When I heard audio of Howard Stern’s people doing man-on-the-street interviews with Obama supporters on the streets of Harlem a week before the election, I knew it was bad. These people were presented with all the actual positions of John McCain and Sarah Palin, but told they were Obama’s and Biden’s positions. The people interviewed had no clue, claimed to support every one of the McCain/Palin issue positions, but were definitely voting for Obama/Biden.
“Doesn’t it bother you that Obama is opposed to abortion rights?” they were asked.
“No. That’s a good thing,” the Obama supporters answered.
“So, you agree with Obama that we should stay in Iraq until our job there is finished?” they were asked.
“Oh, yes. That’s a good thing,” the Obama supporters answered.
And on and on. These voters had absolutely no clue that they were spouting agreement with McCain positions, but were voting for the candidate who actually disagreed with them. More likely, however, was that they were supporting Obama either because of the color of his skin or the fact that they liked him.
This does not bode well for the future of a Democratic Republic.
But even worse, in my opinion, is the extensive interviewing conducted by Zogby, contracted by the group producing a new documentary on the election “Media Malpractice: How Obama Got Elected.”
