Congress Is Most Broken System in America
by Kyle-Anne Shiver • July 7, 2009
What happens when citizens of a Republic stop depending on God and their own hard work, to provide for their needs? When a people turn to government to fix everything and cure everything that’s wrong in life? When a people decide to make the state their own charity and taxpayers their own providers? When a whole class of moochers, unable to do a real job, decide to turn once-dignified public service into their personal cash cow?
Our Congress happens. A Congress with such inflated ideas about its own godlike mission that it begins to worship itself. A Congress with such audacity that it gleefully and shamelessly spends other people’s money with reckless abandon. A Congress with such greed that it skims the cream of the public’s trough, with no thought to the burdens it places on the citizenry it was once pledged to serve.
Our Congress has become a home to beastly tyrants, who would willingly sell our own children into the serfdom of debt to finance their own lavish lifestyles and fantastical schemes to reorder the universe. They are become like leeches, feeding on the blood, sweat, tears and toil of the citizenry.
Congress is broken far more than health care could ever be. Congress in session is worse than a Katrina hitting the heart of America every single week.
This madness must stop. Or we, the citizens, must accept the blame for returning our children to the shackles of slavery. Tyranny, whether by Monarch, Dictator or an out-of-control Congress is the very same animal. Though the stripes may differ, the cost is the same. Congressional tyranny is choking the very life out of these United States.
The first step on the road to reinstating American liberty is Congressional Term Limits. No exceptions. If we remove the power of a Congressman’s long shelf life, we cut at tyranny’s root.
A new organization has formed in North Carolina, by committed citizens, with this intent.
From the Alliance for Bonded Term Limits:
“To begin its important work, the Alliance for Bonded Term Limits has incorporated and made application for recognition as a Part 501(c)(3) tax-advantaged entity. ABTL will exert a nonpartisan effort, because we realize that entrenched cronyism and corruption are not limited to one political party or region. ABTL will be guided by experienced leadership, dedicated to returning integrity to the election process.
The Alliance for Bonded Term Limits, Inc. has been constituted to explore and develop a process under which candidates for public office can assure constituents that they will work diligently in the public interest instead of building long careers rife with self-interest. We will provide a technique to strengthen campaign promises beyond a glib assurance that “my word is my bond” with the more substantive commitment that “My Bond is My Word.” Sincere candidates can demonstrate their resolve by voluntarily bonding their promises of limited tenure in office in advance of the election, by use of personal assets. The assets will be forfeited to charity if the promise is broken.
This country does not need a Constitutional Amendment or a Federal Law to bring fresh ideas to Washington; we need dedicated citizens who will travel to Congress with a real commitment to return home after a finite time in office. Our nation needs to return to the citizen legislatures expected by our Founders and retire the career politicians and their patrician lifestyles. Let the political class return to the real world to live by the rules they have made for others.”
The Alliance is just now in its organization phase, but will have a website up soon. I support their efforts so wholeheartedly that I shall keep y’all informed on their progress. Every American must become involved at the grassroots level and do all he can to reform our system and return it to its original intent.
Will we, of this generation, allow the greatest Country in the history of civilization to fall back into tyranny — the same tyranny expelled by our patriot ancestors.? The same tyranny so many millions of Americans have given their lives to defeat will once again become victorious, if we do nothing. I’ve enough on my conscience already. This horror, I do not need.
